Preparatory Course For Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level

This course prepares students for the Singapore – Cambridge GCE (Advanced Level) examinations. The GCE ‘A’ Level is a widely acclaimed and recognised qualification that is accepted for admission to bachelor’s degrees across the world, including the prestigious and top-ranked universities in Singapore, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States and Europe.

12 months for each Year/Level

Mondays to Fridays, 8:45 am – 3:30 pm, with breaks (excluding Co-Curricular Activities, which will be conducted three times a week for a minimum of 1.5 hours per session)

There are three terms in one Academic Year.

  • Term 1: September – December
  • Term 2: January – March
  • Term 3: April – June

Lectures, Problem-Based Learning, interactive tutorials, paired or group learning, practical science lessons, and other interactive activities that are in line with current best practices to support students’ learning.

Term Assessments conducted for Terms 1 and 2 and a Final Year Assessment is conducted at the end of the Academic Year.

For Year 7:  Recommended age is 12 years old on commencement of the Academic Year that the student is enrolling into.  Passed English at Year 6 and completed Year 6 or its equivalent in their respective countries. International students whose first language is not English may also be required to pass SSTC International Academy’s English Language Proficiency Test.

For Year 8: Recommended age is 13 years old on commencement of the Academic Year that the student is enrolling into.  Passed English at Year 7 and completed Year 7 or its equivalent in their respective countries. International students whose first language is not English may also be required to pass SSTC International Academy’s English Language Proficiency Test.

For Year 9: Recommended age is 14 years old on commencement of the Academic Year that the student is enrolling into.  Passed English at Year 8 and completed Year 8 or its equivalent in their respective countries. International students whose first language is not English may also be required to pass SSTC International Academy’s English Language Proficiency Test.

For Year 10: Recommended age is 15 years old on commencement of the Academic Year that the student is enrolling into.  Passed English at Year 9 and completed Year 9 or its equivalent in their respective countries. International students whose first language is not English may also be required to pass SSTC International Academy’s English Language Proficiency Test.

After applying, students may be required to take an Academic Diagnostic Test covering English and Mathematics subjects to determine their suitability for the level they intend to enrol into. Students will be advised to the appropriate level depending on their score achieved.

Students would need to obtain an overall pass for each subject in the Academic Year in order to pass the level. Students who successfully pass their Year 10 and sit for the IGCSE examinations will be able to graduate from the programme.

Character & Lifeskills Education will be taught at all levels.

All students need to attend at least 75% of classes. Students’ Pass holders are required to maintain an attendance of 90% and above to meet the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority requirement.
