DEVELOP DESIGN THINKING SKILLS COACHES
This course was designed to provide a suite of design thinking modules that are aligned with the design thinking principles. It is targeted for individuals who are employed in organisations who need to rethink the way they manage people by taking on a human-centred approach to management and supervision. The intent is to create a new pool of workforce who takes on human-centred approaches in designing work processes and tasks for their own department/team.

At the end of this course, learners would identify team leaders’ skill requirements and facilitate their learning opportunities to enhance performance. It also includes coaching of team leaders to help them develop their skills and gain confidence. A competent individual will be able to perform the following after completing this course:
- Develop understanding on capabilities and the top 10 skills sets of the future
- Explain the role of the manager as a skills coach
- Adopt models and methods of training needs analysis
- Apply design thinking in coaching
- Develop skills coaching strategy (i) – journey mapping
- Develop skills coaching strategy (ii) – brainstorming and prototyping
- Coach team leaders to enhance their role performance
- Develop a coaching self development and review plan
- Develop understanding on capabilities and the top 10 skills sets of the future
With reference to the Future of Jobs Report 4 under the World Economic Forum, this section will elaborate on the need to focus on the future skills and future jobs in the world, highlighting the changing job landscape of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
- Explain the role of the manager as a skills coach
This section aims to provide a general understanding of the legal and ethical considerations relating to the management of capability development.
- Adopt models and methods of training needs analysis
This section aims to introduce simple models of Training, its objectives, processes and tools.
- Apply design thinking in coaching
This section aims to provide the basic understanding and concepts of design thinking specifically in the areas of principles, tools and processes for implementing design thinking.
- Develop skills coaching strategy (i) – journey mapping
This section aims to introduce the persona of an individual that they will have to coach.
- Develop skills coaching strategy (ii) – brainstorming and prototyping
This section covers the brainstorming and presentation of various ideas from their own research and how one can effectively redesign the whole skills coaching concept to help develop passionate individuals to plan and take control of their own skills development journey and to progress in their careers.
- Coach team leaders to enhance their role performance
This section is where the learners demonstrate how they will coach team leaders to enhance their role performance.
- Develop a coaching self development and review plan
This section covers the evaluation of the proposed coaching strategy they are going to adopt and present it into a coaching plan (template shared and provided in class).

Assumed Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Attitude
Participants are assumed to:
- Hold (or have held) positions of Managers or with Supervisory capacityrole for at least 6 months over the last 3 years
- Possess at least a GCE ‘N’ Levels or equivalent
- Be able to read, write and speak in English (WLPN Level 6 and above)
Knowledge:
- Be able to explain business operations and its difficulties in a company
Skills:
- Be able to manage employees in accordance with prevailing government legislations
- Be able to plan, implement and manage projects at the workplace
During the course application, applicants who do not fully meet the entry requirements, will be subject to a counselling session with the customer service executive.
If the applicant would still like to proceed with their enrolment into the course, he/she will have to sign on the counselling form that they are aware of the requirements and commit to personally put in extra efforts to close the gap (e.g. pairing up with their colleague–where available, etc.)
