GCE O Level English Language Intensive Workshop

AIMS

This is a 12 lessons intensive training programme that aims at equipping students with the necessary skills in interpreting exam questions correctly, developing creative ideas and using appropriate vocabulary and phrases in writing.

Classes are conducted once a week for 2 hours. Each lesson is structured and delivered in a manner where the students can master the technique behind the various Papers and Sections that they will be tested during the GCE “O” Level English Examination. All the lessons are interactive in nature, which means that all students must participate in the discussions and be open to comments, compliments and criticism from the rest of the class. These interactions make the lessons lively and enable each student to not just learn from one another but also know where their own language standard is when compared with classmates from other schools.

Students will be given home assignments after each lesson. Because all 12 lessons are designed to flow seamlessly, the home assignments will be used as materials for subsequent lessons. As such, students who do not complete their assignments or submit haphazardly done work will not be allowed in the class but will have to join another class to make up that lesson.

At the end of the programme, the students would not only be able to master the skills behind dealing with every section of the English paper but also the methods to self-study and prepare for the examination by themselves through systematic research, writing and practice.

WHO IS THE TRAINER?

With over 20 years of experience coaching ‘O’ Level English and ‘A’ Level GP students, Mr Low has helped countless ‘C’ graders over the years scored As in the final exams. He also has the ability to turn otherwise boring composition and comprehension lessons into a lively and interactive experience for his students.

WHAT DO PAST STUDENTS SAY?

I come from a mandarin speaking family and English was my weakest subject in school. Mr Low was quick to identify my areas of weakness in the language and delivered the key principles and concepts in a manner I could easily understand. I scored As in both my ‘O’ Level English and ‘A’ Level GP under his coaching.

I used to dislike English essay writing and comprehension classes in school. Mr Low started coaching me just 6 months before my ‘O’ Level English exam. His delivery of the lessons was so captivating that I fell in love with the language. Not only did I aced my exams, his lessons had helped me build a firm foundation for the language as I furthered my studies.
